LHU Sweeps Sweeps Clarion
Bald Eagles Extend Win Streak to 7
LOCK HAVEN – For the second time in four days, the Lock Haven University baseball team picked up a home-sweep as the Bald Eagles defeated Clarion University (3-12) twice today, extending their win streak to seven games.
Lock Haven beat Clarion 2-1 behind a solid game-one start from pitcher Brett Morrison (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) and the Bald Eagles took game two, 5-2.
With the sweep, LHU extended its win streak to seven games and improved to 11-6 overall. Lock Haven is 4-0 at home.
In game one, Sam Kysor (Port Allegany, Pa./USC Upstate) broke open the scoring with a two-RBI single to right field in the bottom of the second. It proved to be a huge difference in the outcome of the game, as was the effort from Morrison on the mound.
Morrison went five innings and allowed just two hits. He struck out seven. Nick Hornbaker (Lancaster, Pa./East Stroudsburg University) picked up the save after a two innings of no-hit ball. He closed out the game with three strikeouts.
Tyson Petersheim (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) was 2 for 2 with a run scored.
In game two, Lock Haven won 5-2 and was aided by a two-run inning in the third and fifth.
Hunter Szaflarski (Greencastle, Pa./Hagerstown C.C.) was 2 for 2 with two runs scored and a RBI.Jamie Eshleman (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) was 2 for 3.
Tom Cockill (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Mercer C.C.) picked up the win after a solid 4 2/3 innings. Aaron Lidgett (Morrisdale, Pa./West Branch)) was solid in relief (1 1/3 innings) and Matt Lahn (Georgetown, ONT./Erie C.C.) picked up the save, as the Bald Eagles got another strong pitching effort.
LHU heads to Shippensburg University on Friday, March 25 to open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East play.
