LHU Falls to Cal 56-24 to Close the Season

lhu-footballLOCK HAVEN – Despite the loss, redshirt-junior quarterback Caleb Walton (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) put an exclamation point on a record-breaking season.

Today, Walton was 26 of 41 passing and he threw for 317 yards, and two touchdowns. It marked the second straight week where Walton passed for over 300 yards and the fourth time in his career he went over 300 yards passing.

On the season, Walton threw for 2,541 yards, marking his second straight season over the 2,000-yard mark. It’s the fourth-most ever for a single season he’s just the second player in school history pass for over 2,000 yards in two different seasons.

Walton finished the season with 23 passing TDs, a single-season school record and today he broke the record for total TDs accounted for in a single-season. In all, Walton was responsible for 26 touchdowns this year (23 passing TDs, 3 rushing TDs).

For the sixth time this season, Lock Haven scored on its opening drive, but after the Bald Eagles scored on the game’s opening offensive possession today, Cal’s offense proved too much down the stretch.

The Vulcans led 35-17 at the half and scored 14 third-quarter points.

Malyk Harris (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) rushed for 148 yards and one TD on 23 carries.

Harris finished the season with 929 rushing yards, the most in a single-season since 2011.

Dan Krupko (Homeworth, Ohio/Urbana University) and Shawn Seif (Harrisburg, Pa./Kutztown University) each caught TD passes.

Krupko’s TD reception marked his eight of the season, which ties him for second-most ever in a single-season.

Defensively, it was a familiar face leading the way for Lock Haven. Senior Tony Ballon (Jersey City, N.J./Harrisburg) had a team-high 10 tackles.

Fellow senior Mike Williams (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) finished with nine tackles.

Ballon finished the season with 109 tackles, the most for a Bald Eagle in a single-season since 2002.

The 2015 season marked year one for head coach Dave Taynor. The Bald Eagles finished the season at 2-9 overall record and LHU went 2-5 in PSAC East action with wins over Cheyney, and Millersville.
