NORTH BEND – A Bucktail Area High School senior whose dream is a career as a professional baseball player is working to purchase a new scoreboard for the Bucktail ball field.
Chuck Probst Jr. has been playing baseball since he was five years old. He has been playing for the Bucktail High School team during his four years there.

For his senior project Probst has chosen to raise funds to purchase an electronic scoreboard for the Bucktail baseball field.
The cost of the scoreboard is $2,000. The Keystone Central School District will finance the installation of the board at BAHS. Probst has raised about $1,200 toward his goal since beginning his project.
He has sent letters requesting support from area businesses, held a bake sale and manned a booth at Chapman Township Fire Company’s fall craft sale where he sold scarves made by his grandmother, Barbara Riddles.

His next effort is a chicken and biscuit dinner Jan. 7 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Chapman Township Fire Hall. Dinners are $8. The meal includes chicken and biscuits, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables and a dessert. Advance orders will be taken and diners can eat in and have meals delivered.
To order in advance please call 923-2932.
“I chose this dinner as a fundraiser because it is a commonly liked dinner by everyone, so I thought it would sell very well,” he said.
While his goal is to play professional baseball, Probst said, he is just working on getting to the next level right now which is college baseball.
At Bucktail he is active in Interact and Student Council, varsity sports and the ski and environmental clubs. He also plays ball for the Beech Creek American Legion team.
