Flaming Foliage Festival Spotlights Western Clinton County
RENOVO – Postcard-perfect weather conditions and resplendent fall foliage provided the perfect backdrop for today’s 67th annual Flaming Foliage Festival parade through Renovo.
Thousands of people were in attendance for the arts and craft fair and the parade which lasted better than an hour and featured queen contestants from the participating schools. They included Bucktail representative Bridget Gardner and escort Derrick Long; Central Mountain’s Jamey Renninger and escort Andrew Petruzzi; and Sugar Valley’s Samantha Lamey and escort Austin Bird-McDevitt. A number of schools had their marching bands participate, including Central Mountain.
Long-standing parade regulars were part of the event, including the St. Josephs Alumni Band from New York state and a bagpipe band from Athens.
The perfect Saturday also included hang-gliding from nearby Hyner Mountain.
The festival’s Saturday night schedule includes the queen’s formal banquet at 6:30 p.m. Sunday will see the queen’s luncheon at 12:30 p.m. and the coronation ceremony at Bucktail High School at 3 p.m.
