Penn State Wrestler PJ Duke Named B1G Wrestling Freshman of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK– Penn State wrestling’s PJ Duke has been named Big Ten Wrestling Freshman of the Week for the week ending December 14, 2025. Duke picks up Penn State’s first weekly honor of the year.

Duke pinned No. 23 Jared Hill of Wyoming at the 4:09 mark in the second period of their 157-pound match-up in Laramie, Wyo. Duke, a true freshman, pinned the Cowboy graduate student after taking him down four times. Duke’s fall was one of four for Penn State in the Nittany Lions’ 40-7 victory at Wyoming.

The Nittany Lions also had two tech falls in the win and won the first eight bouts of the dual meet in front of a Wyoming all-time record crowd of 4,686. Duke improved to 6-0 on the year with five pins and an injury default victory.

Penn State is 4-0 on the year, 0-0 in the Big Ten. The Nittany head to Nashville, Tenn., this Saturday for the 2025 Journeymen Collegiate Duals on Saturday, Dec. 20. Penn State battles North Dakota State at 5 p.m. and Stanford at 7 p.m. Eastern (4 and 6 local).
