December 16

RENOVO — The halls of Bucktail Area High School will soon ring with the sounds—and stories—of the season as the Bucktail Concert Band and Choir present their annual Holiday Concert on December 16 at 6:00 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.

The Concert Band is preparing a spirited Polar Express Medley, bringing to life the magic and wonder of the beloved 2004 holiday film The Polar Express. Audiences can expect the enchanting musical themes that capture the movie’s sense of adventure, from the exhilarating journey to the North Pole to the warmth and nostalgia woven throughout its score. Among the highlights is Believe, a soaring ballad that has become one of the film’s most iconic songs. Its message—encouraging listeners to hold on to the hope and wonder of childhood—perfectly complements the concert’s festive atmosphere. Paired with the band’s performance of the seasonal classic Sleigh Ride, the set promises an energetic and heartwarming opening to the night.

The Choir will continue the cinematic theme with a lineup inspired by beloved Christmas movies. While the full list of songs remains under wraps, audiences can expect a mix of joyful, nostalgic, and surprising selections sure to spark smiles. One confirmed highlight is ‘You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch’, the unforgettable number from the classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Known for its playful insults and deep, growling melody, the piece perfectly captures Dr. Seuss’s famously grouchy holiday villain and is certain to be a crowd favorite. The remaining selections promise to bring just as much charm and holiday spirit—though attendees will have to come to the concert to experience the full magic.

This year also marks the first Bucktail holiday concert for the program’s new director, who has expressed tremendous excitement for the debut. She shared how proud she is of the students’ dedication, noting the countless hours they have poured into rehearsals. Both the band and choir have worked extremely hard to prepare, and they cannot wait to share everything they’ve been working on with their families, friends, and the wider Renovo community.

The community is invited to gather in support of Bucktail’s talented young musicians and enjoy an evening filled with festive cheer and holiday magic drawn straight from the movies.
