RENOVO -The Renovo Fire Department Station #29 became more prepared than ever for a potential water rescue, thanks to a $5,000 grant from the Susquehanna River Basin Authority, a grant that they used to add several possible life-saving capabilities to their station.

A new ASR 155 Rescue boat was put into service immediately last week after the water rescue team of Station #29 were trained in its capabilities. The boat will allow the ability for numerous water emergencies including running in ice, swift water and low head damn rescues.

After linking up with Todd Stahl of WhiteCap Water rescue the Renovo fire company purchased the boat and the needed equipment like new life jackets and other tools. Stahl assisted in the purchase as well as provided a demo and training on the new boat.

Chief #29 Ted Hill was quite appreciative of his station being given the new apparatus as the area seemingly sees water incidents every year.

“I’d definitely like to thank the Susquehanna River Basin Authority for the grant as well as Todd from WhiteCap Water Rescue” said Hill following the new purchase. “It will benefit the area tremendously and Todd was a great help with his demo and training” offered the Chief.
