Bucktail tennis sweeps Lewisburg 3-0 to advance in playoffs

FARWELL- For the first time since 2022, the Bucktail tennis team is heading back to the District IV 2A semifinals. The Lady Bucks stormed past Lewisburg by the count of 3-0 on Thursday night in the quarterfinal round in Farwell.

Bucktail (13-1) started off hot with number two Kendall Wagner winning over the Lady Green Dragons Christina Zheng 7-6, 6-4.

Lewisburg (11-8) struggled to pick up wins on the afternoon. Bucktail’s duo of McKenna Bissman and Kelsie Wagner won a battle at number one doubles over Lewisburg’s Bree Jun and Morgan Strieby 6-7, 6-4, 6-3.

At number one singles, it was Eva Sockman fighting off Lewisburg’s Dayssi Weis 7-5, 7-5 to lock down the win for the Lady Bucks.

Carrie Ditty and Riley Salizonni had their doubles match at number two pulled and Lola English’s number three singles contest with Ella Markunas was also pulled.

Bucktail will now meet the second seeded Loyalsock Lady Lancers (17-1) on October 14 at a site yet to be determined. Loyalsock downed Central Columbia 3-1.

The upper half of the bracket seen top seeded Danville down South Williamsport 3-0 and Hughesville swept Montgomery 3-0.
