Keystone’s Quick Start Too Much for Bucktail

FARWELL- Keystone quarterback Dom Corcetti proved to be everything he was advertised as on Friday night. The Panthers’ superstar quarterback only needed four offensive plays to prove his talents and helped his team race out to a 28-0 lead within the game’s first five minutes of play.

Corcetti found James Rankin on a 50-yard scoring strike on the very first play of the contest. Keystone and Corcetti took advantage of the first of four Bucktail turnovers when he beat the Bucktail defense on a 20-yard keeper. Two plays in for Keystone and they led 14-0 with 10:47 remaining in the first quarter.

Corcetti continued his hot start with a 30-yard scoring strike to Landyn Reed in what was the Panthers’ third play from scrimmage.

Jacob Henry then got into the scoring action for the Panthers on a 33-yard scoring run to swell Keystone’s lead to 28-0 on their fourth play from scrimmage.

With 6:31 still remaining in the first quarter, it was Henry again to strike. Henry fielded a Bucktail punt and raced 40 yards for the score.

Leading 35-0, Corcetti had one more pass left in him. Corcetti wrapped up his night with a 35-yard scoring strike to Kyden Carnahan tohold a 42-0 lead after one quarter of play.

Corcetti played just one quarter and finished going 4 for 4 passing for 140 yards and the three touchdown passes to go along with his scoring run.

Hunter Traister’s 61-yard touchdown run was followed by 36-yard scoring run by James Rankin to build Keystone’s lead to 56-0 at the break.

The Bucks finally caught a break in the third quarter. Teagan Stone, who was playing in place of an injured Corbin Pentz broke loose on a 57-yard scoring run to get the home team on the board 8:45 remaining in the third quarter.

Corcetti’s brother and backup quarterback Ethan Corcetti hooked up with Laughlin Plummer on a 61-yard scoring strike to continue the Keystone scoring.

The Panthers and Plummer had one more feat left to complete when Plummer converted a Teagan Stone pass into a pick six from 51 yards out to seet the final at 70-6.

Stone completed 8 passes for 37 yards, but made a major presence with his legs by rushing for 102 yards on 9 carries. Bucktail rushed for a season-best 200 yards as a team in the loss.

Prior to the game Bucktail honored military veterans and active members of the armed forces and wore their camouflage jerseys. They also honored their teachers with a teacher appreciation night.

Bucktail will next meet Cameron County at home this coming Flaming Foliage Friday. The Red Raiders captured the D9 League Region 4 title by downing Otto-Eldred 47-16 on Friday night.
