Lady Wildcats Edge Williamsport in 3-2 Thriller

MILL HALL – The Central Mountain girls tennis team battled through another tight match on Wednesday afternoon, pulling out a 3-2 victory over visiting Williamsport. The Lady Wildcats earned the win despite once again being without their top player, Addison Lindsay, and will close the season at home on Thursday against St. Marys.

Central Mountain secured all three of its points in singles play. Lucy Walker set the tone with a hard-fought win at No. 1 singles, defeating Audrey Dincher 6-3, 7-6 (7-2). Her sister Lane Walker followed with a steady performance at No. 2 singles, topping Gabriella McQuillen 6-2, 6-2. At No. 3 singles, Kassie Williams kept the momentum rolling, closing out Lilly Judge 6-2, 6-3.

Williamsport responded in doubles to make the overall team score close. In the No. 1 doubles match, Peyton Kelley and Maddy Landy outlasted Audra Eaton and Kylee Markle in three sets, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4. The Millionaires also picked up a straight-sets win at No. 2 doubles, with Gianna Vitko and Naomi Lee defeating Tessa Akeley and Leah Wian 6-2, 6-2.

With the victory, the Lady Wildcats picked up a key late-season win and now turn their focus to Thursday’s senior night and season finale against St. Marys.
