Wildcats Compete at NEPA Invitational
BLOOMSBURG – The Central Mountain cross country teams turned in strong efforts Saturday at the NEPA Invitational, hosted at Bloomsburg University. The event featured crowded fields, with nearly 300 runners in the boys’ race.
The Wildcat boys finished 14th out of 29 teams. Damien Winner led the way with a 30th-place finish, covering the 5K course in 17:36.20. Shane Walker (82nd) and Riley Gonzalez (83rd) crossed the line together in 19:07.20, while Shayden Hill (101st, 19:29.50) and Xian Deems (108th, 19:36.30) completed the Wildcats’ scoring five.
On the girls’ side, Central Mountain placed 11th out of 20 teams. Emma Wolfe was the top finisher, placing 44th in 23:01.30. Kaylie McCloskey (55th, 23:26.40) and freshman Abigail Winslow (83rd, 24:31.90) both ran personal bests. Calienna Cardinal (107th, 25:45.90) and Liz McCloskey (108th, 25:46.80) rounded out the top five.
Both teams will return to action Tuesday when they travel to Hughesville for a quad meet against Hughesville, Mifflinburg, and Southern Columbia.
