Lewisburg Tops Lady Wildcats in Rain-Soaked Match

MILL HALL – The Central Mountain Lady Wildcats hosted Lewisburg, a PHAC II opponent, Tuesday evening at Malinak Stadium under wet and rainy conditions. The Lady Green Dragons wasted little time taking control, striking twice in the opening ten minutes to build a 2–0 lead. By halftime, the visitors had extended the margin to 4–0, putting Central Mountain in an uphill battle.

In the second half, the Wildcats leaned on their young roster, with several freshmen seeing extended action. Despite the energy and determination, Lewisburg continued to apply pressure, adding two more goals to close out a 6–0 victory.

Central Mountain tried to adjust after the break by pushing the ball behind the Dragons’ back line in hopes of creating one-on-one chances. A pair of free kicks gave the Wildcats brief opportunities, but they were unable to convert.

Head Coach Ryan Veltri said, “Though the score was lopsided, the Lady Wildcats showed resilience and work ethic against one of the league’s stronger programs. The coaching staff emphasized the importance of focusing on the little details and executing in key moments as the group continues to grow together.”

Central Mountain now turns its attention to Thursday’s road test at Shikellamy, ranked fourth in the state among AAA programs by the PSCA. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
