Optimist’s Roundtable
By Martha Sykes
In our everyday lives, we don’t wait very well. When we make a phone call and get put on hold, we wait, we go to an appointment and we sit in the “waiting” room. We say our prayers and we wait for God to answer. We get to a construction zone and we wait in line. We live in a world that is fast paced and everyone is in hurry.
There are many verses in the Bible that mention the word wait. “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord” Psalm 27:14
“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits and in His word I put my hope.” Psalm 130:5
“But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” Romans 8:25
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their way, when they carry out their wicked schemes.” Psalm 37:7
“But as for me, I watch and hope for the Lord, I wait for God, my Savior; my God will hear me.”Micah7:7
“I say to myself, the Lord is my portion; therefore, I will wait for Him.”
Lamentations 3:24
These are just a few of the verses that remind us that we have to wait for the Lord. It has been a rough few months with so many things going on, whether it is with our family, our friends, our neighbors or our country. We have to trust Him, stay faithful and strong and wait. We have to be patient in this waiting room called life.
