Optimist’s Roundtable

By Martha Sykes

“For everything there is a season time for every matter under heaven.” These words were written by Solomon and can be found in the book of Ecclesiastes.

Just thinking about how the seasons change and how life just seems to go so fast. Seems like the summer went so fast, but I know we will still have some warm days to enjoy. It is always amazing to see how things just change so naturally because of how God has created the world. Every season brings us something to enjoy, and without those seasons, I guess life would be pretty mundane. There is always something to look forward to no matter what season we are in. Those words that were written by Solomon, thousands of years ago are just a reminder to us that for everything there is a season, not only on the Earth, but in our lives.

As humans, we all must undergo changes in our lives, and these seasons of change can be confusing, overwhelming, or just plain scary sometimes. We grow up, we get jobs, we get married and raise our families, and of course, we get older and can’t do some things we used to do, and sometimes life can be challenging. The possibility of what lies ahead can cause us worry when we don’t know what the future holds.

What we have to remember is that God is the one who holds our futures. One of my favorite reminders is that we don’t know what tomorrow holds, but it is God who holds all of our tomorrows.

The promise is that God is with us through every step of the way and He will never leave us or forsake us. He will never change. He is the same God today and forever. He is the One to help give us peace during these seasons of life and He is in control of the changing of the seasons on Earth. Trust in Him, be still, and know that He is God.
