Lock Haven Fire Department Announces ‘Inaugural Fire Float’ for August 17
By Christopher Miller
LOCK HAVEN – If you think your summer hasn’t been busy enough, hold on to your hats, Lock Haven.
‘Fire Float’ is the brainchild of Schlesinger Communications, Inc., created to support the Lock Haven Fire Departments—Citizens Hose Fire Company and Eastside Fire Rescue. For a $10 donation, you can float for a great cause down the river from Peddie Park to Lock Haven City Beach.
Parking will be available at Commonwealth University-Lock Haven with shuttle service to Peddie Park provided by Susquehanna Transit.
The Lock Haven Fire Department and PA Fish and Boat Commission will be stationed along the route to provide water safety.
As well, Vesper Street will be closed from Water Street to the Dike for vendors, food trucks, and stands.
“We’d like to create a festive atmosphere for floaters and spectators,” Mark Schlesinger of Schlesinger Communications, Inc. said. “Floaters will be able to enter the river from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and vendors will be open until around 5 p.m. to catch the after-float crowd.”
Anyone interested in a space to set up a vendor spot or food truck is encouraged to contact Schlesinger Communications, Inc. at 570-748-4038, by email at info@wsqvradio.com, or in person by stopping by the radio station located at 21 East Main Street in downtown Lock Haven.
For complete rules and safety policies, the public is asked to listen to the radio or tune in online and follow Schlesinger Communications on social media.
All proceeds raised will go directly to Citizens Hose Fire Company and Eastside Fire Rescue of Lock Haven.
The Fire Float will be held on Sunday, August 17.
