Keystone 8-10 All-Stars Capture District 12 Title
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT – The Keystone 8-10 Baseball All-Stars claimed the District 12 championship on Saturday afternoon, defeating Wall 9-4 behind timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and strong pitching.
Wall struck first with a run in the opening inning, but Keystone responded quickly in the second. Logan Hanley led off with a single, and Freddy Gundlach followed with a sharp line drive double to center, scoring Hanley to tie the game. Gundlach then showed heads-up baserunning, stealing third and then home to give Keystone a 2-1 lead.
The big lead came in the top of the fourth, when Keystone plated five runs to break the game open and seize control.
Keystone totaled eight hits on the afternoon. Hanley finished with two hits, while Bentley Leone, Westin Heeman, Easton Feerrar, Carter Shellman, and Mason Wright each added one. Gundlach’s double and daring baserunning sparked the Keystone offense.
On the mound, Whitt McCloskey started and pitched 3.1 strong innings, striking out seven. Shellman came on in relief, striking out four more to close out the game.
With the victory, Keystone will now host the Section 3 tournament from July 12-16.
