Optimist’s Roundtable
By Martha Sykes
Hats off to all of our graduates this week from 6th grade, to our seniors and then our kindergarten children! We all realize how time flies and we can only hope as parents or grandparents that we have inspired our young ones to be the best they can be!!
There will be tears of joy, as well as the feeling that lives will change as our seniors go off into the big, wide world to face challenges and opportunities to make a difference wherever they go. For thirteen years they have been listening to teachers as they learned the basics to get through life and to figure out the path that is best for them.
I am sure that many parents have prayed for these young people so that they will know that God has a plan for each of them.
In the book of Joshua, chapter 1:9 reminds us to “ Be strong and take courage and do not be afraid or discouraged. The Lord your God is with you wherever you go”. These are encouraging words from scripture for our graduates.
For Christians, graduation is a time to celebrate both earthly achievements and God‘s faithfulness as we acknowledge His role in their journey. It is an opportunity for us to pray for our children and our young people, and to be thankful for God’s continued guidance as they all move on to see new beginnings.
