Bucktail, Sugar Valley well represented on Mid Penn all-stars softball team

MUNCY- Bucktail’s softball accolades continued to roll in over the weekend. The Lady Bucks are gearing up for their PIAA District IV 1A semifinal meeting with top-seeded Montgomery on Wednesday, but on Sunday four Bucktail softball players earned Mid Penn Conference honors.

Eva Sockman and Lola English both were selected to the first team. Sockman at third base and English for her work in the Bucktail outfield. Sockman led Bucktail with a .545 average and blasted a pair of home runs, while driving in 31 runners.

English batted .451 with a home run and 8 doubles.

Bucktail’s freshman ace Carrie Ditty earned second team pitching honors. Ditty struck out 112 batters during the regular season and has accumulated an astonishing 1,500 pitches thus far while sporting a 3.72 ERA.

Makenna Stone and her .510 batting average was good enough to earn her second team honors at shortstop.

Stone had some stiff competition, with Northwest’ Ava Ruckle. The Lady Rangers’ sophomore took home first team honors at shortstop and was named league MVP.

Sugar Valley also had a pair of all-stars. Cheyenne Weaver and her team-leading .682 average earned her a second team catcher spot. Teammate Olivia Johnson earned second team outfielder. Johnson, a senior batted .375 in her final season in a Lady Phoenix uniform.
