Sockman homers as Lady Bucks roll over CMVT, 20-2

BLOOMSBURG- Eva Sockman connected on three hits, drove in 7 runs as Bucktail eased past Columbia Montour Vo Tech 20-2 in Mid Penn Conference play. One of Sockman’s hits was a 3-run blast to left field for her third long ball of 2025.

The Lady Bucks wasted little time in jumping out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. A 5-run first inning set the tone for the contest with the Lady Rams.

CMVT entered the game with just one victory and were outmatched from the onset. The Bucktail offense, which was helped by 8 free passes on the afternoon crossed 8 more runs in the top of the second inning.

Bucktail starting pitcher Carrie Ditty kept the Columbia Montour Vo Tech bats silent, allowing no hits or earned runs in two innings of circle time.

A big third inning of seven runs gave the Farwell squad the 20-0 lead. CMVT made a small rally in the bottom of the third inning by scoring two runs, but it wouldn’t be enough to prevent the 15-run mercy rule.

Sockman’s three hits led Bucktail. The Lady Bucks also received multiple hit days from Makenna Stone and Carrie Ditty. Stone had a double, scored 3 runs and knocked in two runs. Matti Mason had a single and two runs scored. Rebecca Conway also had a base hit in the win.

CMVT fell to 1-11 on the season, while Bucktail’s season mark improved to 4-5.

The Lady Bucks win now sets up a huge game with District IV 1A playoff implications riding on it when they meet Sullivan County (6-3), who beat up on Sayre 16-5 today. This will be the first time the two teams have met since the District IV title game last season. Bucktail faces the Lady Griffins on the road Thursday.
