Benton- On Tuesday afternoon the Benton Tigers showed why they’re one of the contenders in District IV 1A baseball this season.
Benton put up 11 hits and scored 9 fourth inning runs to halt Sugar Valley’s win streak at two games, 14-2 in 5 innings.
The Phoenix fell behind 4-0 to the host Tigers before crossing a pair of runs in the top of the third inning, but Benton was just too much for the Phoenix on this day.
Briar Martin’s two singles led Sugar Valley. Brody Swanger, Lincoln Breon and Tobias Conoway all added a hit each for the Phoenix.
Sugar Valley will now take their 2-6 record to Taggart Park on Thursday where they’ll host Northwest.
