Bloomsburg- Tyler Hillyer’s 2 RBI double in the top of seventh inning added a pair of insurance runs to give Bucktail a 7-4 cushion on the road at Columbia Montour Vo Tech.
The Bucks and Keller Friese wouldn’t need the extra runs. For the third straight inning the Bucktail sophomore put the freeze on the Rams’ bats to give his squad their second victory of the season.
Friese allowed no earned runs and struck out six batters in three innings of work.
The Bucks built a 5-0 lead before the Rams finally crossed two runs in the fourth inning.
CMVT took advantage of a pair of Bucktail errors in the sixth inning to shrink Bucktail’s lead to 5-4 before Hillyer’s seventh inning double that scored Friese and Gavin Pick.
Pick, Friese, Hillyer and Ethan Charcalla all collected a pair of hits for the Bucks. Friese had a triple and a double. Hillyer, Teagan Stone and Cael Dorman also collected doubles for the 2-7 Bucks, who had a total of 10 hits.
The Bucks will next be in action on Thursday at Sullivan County.
