Sugar Valley Lady Phoenix drop wild game to Millville, 28-26 

Millville- Millville and Sugar Valley battled in a wild game in Mid Penn Conference play on Tuesday afternoon. The game was suspended in the third due to weather and resumed before being called in the fifth. The Lady Phoenix and Lady Quakers combined for 54 runs.

When the smoke finally cleared, Millville erased a 17-1 deficit to claim a stunning 28-26 home victory. It was the first Lady Quakers win of the season.

Sugar Valley started off rolling and scored 7 runs in the first inning and exploded for 10 more in the top of the second inning. Millville followed up their lone first inning run with 8 more in the bottom of the second inning and then things began to get interesting.

Sugar Valley led 18-9 before Millville scored 7 runs in their half of the third inning to make it an 18-16 Lady Phoenix lead. 

Sugar Valley captured a 22-16 lead following a 4-run fourth inning, but the Lady Quakers responded in a big way by crossing 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to grab a 26-22 lead.

The Lady Phoenix battled back in their next at bat. Sugar Valley scored 4 runs to tie things up, 26-26.

Millville closed the game with a pair of runs in their final at bat to take the 28-26 win.

 Cheyenne Weaver led Sugar Valley with 5 hits. Weaver slammed 3 doubles, Olivia Clester had three hits the Lady Phoenix. Kayleigh Showers dropped in a pair of hits for Sugar Valley. Najiah Staton added to the Sugar Valley hit parade too.

Sugar Valley dropped to 1-7 on the season and will next be in action on Monday with a road trip to Sullivan County (4-2).
