MCCLOSKEY SEES FINE CAREER END AT REGIONALS

WILLIAMSPORT – Jarren McCloskey saw his very good season and career come to a close, as the Sugar Valley Rural Charter senior fell in the first round of consolations Saturday morning and was eliminated from the Class AA Northeast Regional Championships at Williamsport High School. 

McCloskey lost by a 20-3 technical fall to Montoursvilles’ Karter Stone and saw his season end with a 27-11 record. McCloskey finished his career with a record of 85-47, which makes him the winningest wrestler in the Phoenix brief history. He also joined 2023 grad Kyle Stahl as the only two Phoenix wrestlers to qualify for the regional tournament thus far. 

McCloskey finished with 47 career falls, which ranks him second behind 2024 grad Cameron Quick, who finished with 54 career falls. Quick is now in second place on the Phoenix win list with 64 career wins. 

In the tournaments team race, the Montoursville Warriors ran away with the team title, as they racked up 158 points with five runner-ups, while Warrior Run was second with 116.5 points and three champs. Towanda rounded out the top three teams with 100 points, one champ and two second place finishers.
