Optimist’s Roundtable

By Martha Sykes

“I may not know what a day may bring, But I know who brings today.” These words are from the song “Miracle Power” by the group called We the Kingdom and it references John 14:14, which says, “If you ask for anything in my name, I will do it.”

This song also refers to the words in I Corinthians 4:20, which says, “For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.”

Sometimes things happen and we are reminded that God is in control of our lives and we are not always promised tomorrow, but we know that God hold all of our tomorrows. Everything is in His hands. Things happen that we don’t expect, but God has promised to walk by our side through everything. His miracle powers will give us strength to face anything that comes our way. He has the power to calm every storm, The message in this song is that miracles can restore our faith, and hopefully create that childlike wonder in our hearts.

Every morning I listen to a Christian radio station and the words to the songs always help to start the day off by leaving a message of hope and faith as I continue with my day. Hearing the words of Jesus and scripture through song and the messages from the programs on this station are all the good news for any one of us to hear.

Another part of this song says, “ I believe in miracle power, in a wonder working God, I am filled with the Holy Spirit, Working wonders in my heart, When it feels like I won’t make it, I call on Jesus”. When life gets tough, call on Him.
