Lacrosse falls to No. 8 ESU
LOCK HAVEN– The Lock Haven lacrosse team got out to a hot start, but the No. 8 East Stroudsburg offense caught fire in the second period to down the Bald Eagles, 17-10, in non-conference action at Charlotte Smith Field this afternoon.
Lock Haven moves to 2-1 overall in the early season. ESU improves to 2-0.
Gabby Gunnip and Nadia Baskot led The Haven offense with two goals and an assist each.
Jordan Ellis, Addy Palm, Hadley Munn, Kaitlyn Collins, Makayla Kelly and Emma Williams also scored.
The Bald Eagles forced 13 turnovers in the game and four players finished with two. Collins secured a game-high four groundballs.
Baskot and Kelly also finished with a team-high four draw controls.
In net, Bald Eagle keeper Gretchen King finished with eight saves.
Lock Haven scored the first two goals of the game to lead early, but the Warriors responded with eight goals in the second period to start to pull away.
The Bald Eagles regrouped midway through the third period and scored four of the game’s next five goals to cut their deficit to 14-9, but ESU responded with three straight scores in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Ariana Tucci and Sadie Kauffman combined for 12 goals to lead the way for ESU.
