LHU Men’s Wrestling extends win streak with big victory over Clarion
CLARION- The Lock Haven men’s wrestling team won nine bouts and soared past longtime rival Clarion, 43-4, in Mid-American Conference (MAC) action on Thursday, Feb. 8.
With the win, the Bald Eagles move to 12-5 on the season and extended their win streak to eight. The 12-5 mark is the first 12-win season for The Haven since 2017-18 when the team finished 12-4.
Additionally, Lock Haven remains perfect in MAC action at a record of 5-0 with victories over Bloomsburg, Kent State, George Mason, and Rider.
Clarion picked up a major decision victory in the 125 bout but Lock Haven won the remaining nine bouts for the lopsided victory.
No. 31 Avery Bassett (174) and No. 17 Gavin Hoffman (285) picked up wins by pin. Bassett pinned Brady Worthing in 2:30. Hoffman closed the dual with a victory by fall at the 1:44 mark over Austin Chapman.
No. 16 Anthony Noto (133) and No. 17 Wyatt Henson (141) picked up back-to-back tech fall victories. Nick Stampoulos and No. 27 Tucker Hogan also won by tech at 157 and 197, respectively.
Noto needed 5:25 to knock off Mason Prinkey 16-0. Noto had a 9-0 lead before scoring a takedown and nearfall points for the tech.
Henson made quick work of Gianni Silvestri scoring 14 points in the first period for a commanding lead (14-2). The Bald Eagle scored two takedowns in the second for the 20-4 tech fall in 4:12.
Stampoulos teched Judah Aybar, 21-5, in 5:23. Hogan downed Ethan Wiant, 17-1 (6:30).
Caden Dobbins and No. 23 Colin Fegley added wins by major decision.
At 165, Dobbins had a 4-0 lead over Wesley Barnes in the final period. The Bloomsburg transfer scored two takedowns with just under 40 seconds left to push the win to a major (10-1).
At 184, Fegley dropped Adrian Gacek 10-1.
No. 32 Lucas Kapusta edged out Kyle Schickel 8-7 at 149. Schickel scored a takedown to tie it up 7-7 with 1:30 left, but Kapusta was able to escape and defend Schickel for the hard fought victory.

The Lock Haven men’s wrestling team has announced a schedule change. The Bald Eagles’ match scheduled for next week vs. Cleveland State has been moved to Thursday, Feb. 13 and it will be held at Franklin High School in Franklin, Pa. The dual will start at 7 p.m.
