LHU Women’s Swimming competes in John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invite and PSAC Last Chance Meet
NEWVILLE– The Lock Haven women’s swimming team wrapped up a busy weekend of competition by competing in the John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invitational and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Last Chance Meet in Newville, Pennsylvania on Saturday (Jan. 18).
The pair of meets took place inside the Big Rock High School Natatorium.
The morning started off at the John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invitational for the Haven.
Leading the way for The Haven was Holly Cleworth, who won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.46
Madison Bortner, freshman, finished third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:41.61).
The women were in action directly after for the PSAC Last Chance Meet.
Bortner led the way with a 2nd place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:06.57.
Cleworth finished third in the 100-yard freestyle (56.20), just narrowly being defeated by one second.
Other top finishers included: Alaina Cane finishing fourth (1:04.68) in the 100-yard butterfly and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle (57.70) with Syndey Houck finishing directly behind her for ninth (59.11).
Yesterday (Friday, Jan. 17) the Bald Eagles traveled to Penn State Altoona for a non-conference dual meet and won 155-86 in dominating fashion.
Next up for The Haven:
The Bald Eagles return home for the final time and will host Saint Francis on Friday (Jan. 24) at 4:30 p.m. inside Zimmerli Pool.
