Clinton County Sherriff Warns of Scam in Clinton County
The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a Scam currently taking place in the county. The Release for the Sheriff is below:

Apparently there is a scam currently taking place in and around Clinton County.
Many people calling our office reporting a caller claiming to be a “Deputy” or an “Officer” with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Dep Mercer was one name(we don’t have a Dep. Mercer here)
Caller is very demanding and requests $3000 immediately to get you off of a Jail Pick Up list for failure to attend jury selection.
Caller even directs you to a source where you can make this payment, such as a Western Union. They demand you remain on the phone with them while you’re going to make your payment transaction too.
Your caller ID will display Unavailable or Restricted when they are calling.
THIS IS A SCAM FOLKS.
PLEASE NEVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION OR SEND PAYMENT LIKE THIS.
These people are absolutely preying on their potential victims…esp those who fear the threats of going to jail.
