LHU Swimming returns home to host PSAC foe California (Pa.)

LOCK HAVEN– Highlighted by seven first-place finishes, the Lock Haven swimming team hosted California (Pa.) in an exciting Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) dual meet inside Zimmerli Pool on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 2). The Vulcans came away with a 132-126 victory.
The Bald Eagles held multiple leads throughout the intense afternoon and won seven different races to narrow the scoring gap against the Vulcans to six points, after falling to Cal by 21 last season.
The quartet of Holly Cleworth, Sydney Houck, Emma Pequignot and Alaina Cane brought home gold in the 200-yard medley relay as they finished with a time of 1:56.99.
Cleworth won three individual races on the afternoon to power the Bald Eagles. The sophomore won the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.05) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:53.65), pulling away from the opposition in each race. Cleworth added a first-place finish in the 200-yard free as she bested the competition by seven seconds (2:02.25).
Houck also won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.26. Pequignot placed first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:23.84.
Rookie Madison Bortner continues to impress and won the 1000-yard freestyle, crossing in 12:02.71.
