Coming off its first regular season loss since 2019, losing last week to undefeated Shamokin 30-28, Jersey Shore had to go on the road to face the Braves of Shikellamy in the team’s second PHAC (Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference) game of the season.
Shikellamy came into the game without a win and had been shut out in its last three games, losing last week to Williamsport 20-0 but over the years has always played the Bulldogs tough.
Jersey Shore came out hot on the offensive side of the football scoring 3 offensive touchdowns and adding a special teams score all in the first quarter to sprint to an early 28-0 lead.
Elijah Jordan converted on a 8 yard scramble run at the 10:30 mark (Herr PAT), and Shore led 7-0.
On the next Bulldog drive, Jordan found Trent Severino on a 6 yard pass at the 7:49 mark of the first quarter and with the Herr PAT; JS extended its lead to 14-0.
Evan Snyder electrified the Bulldog faithful with an outstanding punt return on the next possession taking the ball 70 yards for the score. The Herr PAT gave Jersey Shore a 21-0 with 5:18 remaining in the first.
The Bulldogs completed its first quarter scoring with a Jordan to Evan Snyder 34 yard post pattern pass play (Herr PAT). At the end of the first stanza, Jersey Shore led 28-0.
In the second quarter, Jersey Shore continued to add to its lead with another Jordan to Snyder touchdown pass. This time, Snyder made a great run after the catch and took it in from 13 yard (8:57) to up the Shore lead (Herr PAT) to 35-0.
Shikellamy finally broke its 3 game scoring drought by scoring on a nice Brody Rebuck to Thomas Pollard 66 yard pass play. De Phillips added the PAT and the Jersey Shore lead was reduced to 35-7.
The Bulldogs added one more score before halftime on another Jordan to Snyder scoring pass. This one covered 30 yards and came with 4:36 remaining in the quarter (Herr PAT) and Shore extended its lead to 42-7 at the break.
Bo Seachrist got into the scoring column for the first time in the game with two third quarter touchdown runs. The first (5:21) came from 4 yards and the second was on a nice 45 yard jaunt (Herr PATS after each TD) and at the end of the quarter, Jersey Shore had extended its lead to 56-7.
Shore added a Fetzer 1 yard run with 6:55 in the fourth to close out its scoring on the night (Herr PAT; 9th of the ballgame). The Bulldogs led 63-7.
Shikellamy added a late touchdown with 52 seconds to go to make the final score, Jersey Shore 63 – 13 (failed 2 point conversion).
Evan Snyder led the way offensively for the Bulldogs with over 225 total yards, both receiving and punt returns along with 4 touchdowns to lead the way for Jersey Shore to improve its record to 4-1, 2-1 PHAC.
Elijah Jordan also surpassed the 1000 yard passing mark for the season to date with over 200 yards and 4 touchdowns in tonight’s winning effort.
