LHU Student-Athletes Make the Grade; Teams Hit Impressive GPA Marks (2023-24)
LOCK HAVEN – Among many athletic accomplishments, the Bald Eagles continued to put “student” first in student-athlete during the 2023-24 academic year.
In all, 17 of Lock Haven’s 21 athletic programs achieved a team grade-point-average of 3.0 or higher during the 2023-24 academic and athletic seasons. On July 1, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) released its full list of 2023-24 individual scholar-athletes and a record-number of 201 Bald Eagles were honored with the award.
The Haven tennis team recorded the highest team GPA at 3.517 and women’s cross country followed closely at 3.438. On the men’s side, the men’s soccer team held the highest team GPA (3.236).
The 17 Lock Haven teams that hit the high mark (3.0 Team GPA or higher) during the 2023-24 season included: volleyball (3.305), men’s soccer (3.236), women’s soccer (3.353), men’s cross country (3.198), women’s cross country (3.438), tennis (3.517), women’s basketball (3.414), swimming (3.313), men’s indoor and outdoor track & field (3.161), women’s indoor and outdoor track & field (3.427), baseball (3.091), softball (3.423), lacrosse (3.274), field hockey (3.305), and men’s wrestling (3.016).
Other recent and major academic highlights include Ryan Miller’s achievement on the 2024 PSAC Spring Top-10 List. Impressively, Eli Washington (men’s basketball), Sydney Houck (swimming), and Ryan Miller (men’s track & field) were all named PSAC Champion Scholar’s after their respective 2023-24 seasons.
