KC Board votes in favor of 24/25 budget, tax increase
By Christopher Miller
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – In a record 4.25 hour combined work session and voting meeting Thursday night, the Keystone Central School Board passed the 2024-2025 district budget by a very slim margin of five to four. The budget, and an out of state field trip, were the only items voted on during the meeting.
Those no votes came from School Board members Tom Cannon, Dr. William Baldino, Chris Scaff, and Elisabeth Lynch.
The work session and voting meeting passed a tax increase of 3.55% for the next school year, which equates to an average increase of $55 per year for the $88,781,896 budget.
The impact of the increase helps to maintain level tax increases, covers expenditures including the rising cost of healthcare funding for capital improvement projects, and helps to maintain a fund balance for revenue generation.
There was no discussion on the budget during the work session or prior to the voting meeting Thursday night.
A special meeting to vote on the remainder of the items for June was voted on and passed for Thursday, June 20 at 6:30 PM.
