Optimist’s Rountable

By Martha Sykes

Did you ever hear a song for the first time and the words just sent a message to your heart? Listening to Christian radio, I hear a lot of songs that are my favorite, but the song, “Evidence”, by Josh Baldwin, is a keeper for me. As soon as I took the time to listen closely to the words, I thought to myself that should be my theme song. It is a song about how life can be full of the evidence of how Jesus has been a part of our lives and I can certainly attest to that!

“All throughout my history, your faithfulness has walked beside me” is the first line and when we think about our lives, Jesus has been so faithful to us no matter how faithful we are to Him. He walks with us every day and speaks to us in so many ways.

“The winter storm made way for Spring and every season where I’m standing”. It doesn’t matter what season life throws at us, He is with us. Seasons come and seasons go, but God is always with us. “I see the evidence of your goodness, all over my life.” All over my life is the key phrase in this song because we don’t have to look very far to see the goodness that Jesus gives us in our lifetimes.

Did you ever sit down and start writing down all the blessings that has been given to us every day? It can be heartwarming to recall the goodness of God that He has showered upon us. Just like we know that winter comes, and winter goes, and Spring shows forth with hope and promise of new beginnings!

It happens every year no matter what we do. That is how God created the world to be.

“Help me remember when I’m weak, fear may come but fear will leave”. We all have had times when fear comes around or life throws us an unexpected event.

“You lead my heart to victory, you are my strength and always will be”. God can be our strength at any time because there are moments when we wonder how we get through some difficult times in our lives and we realize that it is His power that leads us. “See the cross, the empty grave, the evidence is endless”. Without the cross and without Jesus’s victory over death and His resurrection, where would we be? The story of Jesus and His  walk to Calvary is so important to our Christian beliefs. There is so much evidence around us of how Jesus and His goodness fills our lives.

Well, I do see the evidence of God’s goodness in my life, and I hope I never lose sight of that. This Sunday, we will celebrate Mother’s Day and I will be forever grateful for how God blessed me with a wonderful mother who still influences my life. I thank God for the impact she has made in my life. Whether your mother is still here on earth or is now a memory in your heart, be grateful for that special gift given to you.

Wishing every mother out there a very blessed Mother’s Day!!
