LHU Baseball concludes series at Charleston
CHARLESTON, W.V. – The Lock Haven baseball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader, 3-0, 12-1, at Charleston University on Sunday afternoon, March 3.
Lock Haven move to 3-7 on the young season and Charleston improved to 7-3.
Game One: Charleston 3, Lock Haven 0
In game one, the Bald Eagles outhit Charleston, 5-4, but Charleston took advantage of two Lock Haven errors and benefited from timely hitting on its way to victory.
Jaxson Pupo (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) went 2-for-3 and Francisco Taveras (Muhlenburg, Pa./Muhlenburg) doubled to lead the Bald Eagles on offense.
Despite the loss, Garrett Starr (DuBois, Pa./Dubois) put forth a quality start, allowing two earned runs on four hits and striking out four hitters in six-complete innings of work.
Game Two: Charleston 12, Lock Haven 1
In game two, the Bald Eagles again outhit Charleston, 5-4, but were doomed by a game-high eight walks allowed that led to Charleston’s 12 runs.
Gavin Neal (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) drove in the lone Bald Eagle run, while Jake Ambrosio recorded two hits.
Pupo, Ambrosio and Joseph DeSiena (Jacksonville, Fla./Atlantic Coast) all stole a base.
Rylan Bailey (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) started on the mound for The Haven and tossed four innings, allowing three runs and finishing with one strikeout.

The Bald Eagles are set to open up Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action at home on Friday, March 8 with a noon doubleheader at Watkins field vs. East Stroudsburg.
