Obituary – Elmer L. Phillips
Elmer L. Phillips, 82, of Mill Hall, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Jersey Shore Nursing & Rehabilitation.
Born in Howard on May 28, 1941, he was the son of the late Eldon and Viola Bechdel Phillips.
Elmer was a 1959 graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany High School.
On June 30, 1961, he married the former Margie E. Beaty, who preceded him in death December 21, 2021.
Elmer was the owner and operator of Phillips Wood Products until his retirement.
He was an avid wrestler throughout his high school years and then joined the Lock Haven YMCA wrestling team of which he participated in for several years. He also proudly sponsored and was a former player of the Chippers softball team.
Elmer is survived by four children, Tina Phillips of Mill Hall, Carl (Kim) Phillips of Beech Creek, Boyd Phillips of Mill Hall and Neil (Linda) Phillips of Beech Creek; two sisters, Darlene “Penny” Phillips of Mill Hall and Joyce Beaty of Blanchard; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren with another great granddaughter expected.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Phillips; a sister, Beatrice Killinger; and two brothers-in-law, John “Bud” Killinger and Bob Beaty.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Elmer and his late wife, Margie, on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 1 to 4 P.M. at the Beech Creek Social Hall, 38 Locust Street, Beech Creek, PA 16822.
