LHU Swimming competes on day two at the PSAC Championships

CARLISLE, Pa. – After a successful opening day, the Lock Haven women’s swimming team returned for the second day at the 2023-24 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship at the Keystone Aquatics Center in Carlisle, Pa.

The gritty Bald Eagles have shown massive improvement all season long and today’s Championship meet was a direct correlation.

The morning section saw three personal-best swims from Holly Cleworth (Cape Town, Western Cape; South Africa/Springfield Convent of the Holy Rosary) Alana Cane (Bellefonte, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) and Emma Pequignot (Dover, Pa./Dover).

Cleworth reached the finals in the 200-yard freestyle with a PR of 1:55.85, finishing 17th in the prelims. She returned for the final night session and brought her best, dropping her seed time and prelim time with a swim of 1:54.64 to win the C final and finish 17th overall.

Cane just missed the top-24 in the 100-yard butterfly and became the first alternate with a swim of 1:00.16.

Pequignot broke the five-minute barrier (4:58.72) in the 400-yard individual medley to just miss a top-25 finish.

The Bald Eagles returned for the night session and impressed in the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard medley relay.

The quartet of Cane, Noro Craig (Dover, Pa./Dover) (2:04.85), Mackenzie Eades (Derry, Pa./Derry) (2:10.84) and Sydney Houck (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) finished the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:42.91 with personal bests from every swimmer.

In the 400-yard medley relay, the team of Houck (PR), Cane (PR), Cleworth and Pequignot swam a very competitive heat with a finish of 4:04.33.
