No. 22 LHU Men’s Wrestling caps busy stretch with home tournament

LOCK HAVEN – After two duals to start the weekend, the No. 22 Lock Haven men’s wrestling team capped a busy stretch today (Sunday, Jan. 28) by hosting the Mat-Town Open II Tournament.

Today’s action featured nearly 200 wrestlers from over 20 teams.

A number of Bald Eagles competed unattached today and leading the way was DaShawn Farber (Bethlehem, Pa./Nazareth) who finished second at 157 pounds. Farber was 3-1 on the day with two major decisions. The Bald Eagle opened the day with back-to-back majors and earned a hard-fought 4-1 decision in the semifinals.

Lucas Kapusta (Jeanette, Pa./Hempfield Area) rattled off four wins and finished fifth overall at 149 behind a 4-1 record, which included a pin.

Wyatt Fox (Etters, Pa./Red Land) rounded out the Lock Haven place-winners with a sixth-place finish at 141 after going 3-2 with two pins.

Today’s tournament action capped a busy four-day stretch for Lock Haven. The Bald Eagles opened the weekend Thursday (Jan. 25) night at home with a lopsided 33-6 win over George Mason in Mid-American Conference (MAC) Eastern Division action. Thursday marked Lock Haven’s annual Community Night, held this year in honor of the late Mike Millward ’84. On Friday (Jan. 26), the Bald Eagles dropped a hard-fought MAC dual at Rider.

Up Next for Lock Haven:

The Bald Eagles will return to dual action on Thursday, Feb. 1 when they host longtime rival Clarion in MAC East action. The match is set for 7 p.m. in Thomas Fieldhouse On Friday, Feb. 2, Lock Haven will head to Navy for a non-conference dual.
