Central Mountain Wildcat Bocce Celebrates Senior Night with Victory over Mifflinburg Wildcats
MILL HALL – The Central Mountain High School Gym was buzzing with excitement on a Monday afternoon as the Mifflinburg Bocce Team made the journey to face off against the Central Mountain Wildcat Bocce Team. The gym was filled with cheers and support for both teams, creating an electrifying atmosphere. After two 30-minute matches, Central Mountain emerged with the win, claiming victory in both.
The coin toss favored Central Mountain, who opted for the green balls. The competition kicked off with the roll of the palina, and after the first frame, Central Mountain secured an early 3-0 lead. In the second frame of the first match, Mifflinburg fought back, earning 2 points and narrowing the score to 3-2 in favor of the Central Mountain Wildcats with 17:42 remaining in the match. Central Mountain accelerated their pace, scoring 4 points in the third frame, extending their lead to 7-2. The final frame of match one saw Central Mountain adding three more points to their tally for an 11-2 win.
Following the competitive bocce action, it was time for Senior Night. Both teams took a moment to honor their seniors. Central Mountain seniors Nate Aikely, Luke Parker, Kendalyn Bair, and Javon Weildler were recognized, along with Mifflinburg Wildcats seniors Riley Clark, Riley Hoey, Vanessa Moyer, and Lilee Dorman.
After the Senior Night celebrations, both teams geared up for the second match. Central Mountain started strong, securing 3 points in the first frame with 24:56 left to play. The momentum continued in the second frame, with Central Mountain adding another solid 3 points, establishing a 6-0 lead. Frames three and four saw Central Mountain scoring one point each, bringing the overall score to 8-0. Mifflinburg didn’t give up bouncing back with 2 points in the fifth frame and an additional point in the sixth frame. However, Central Mountain ultimately emerged with the 8-3 win on Senior Night.
Looking ahead, Central Mountain will hit the road to face Warrior Run on Thursday, February 8th, aiming to carry the momentum from this memorable Senior Night victory.
