Garden Spot too much for Wildcats
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Lancaster County’s Garden Spot High School brought its football team to Malinak Stadium for the first time on Friday night and the Spartans made quite an impression. Paced by all around quarterback Kye Harting, the team from New Holland picked up a 48-0 victory over the injury-plagued Wildcats.
Spartan Harting went 8 for 10 on the night for 163 yards with an interception and two touchdowns. Trenton Hoober caught two passes for 88 yards and had one interception. Nathan Eberly rushed 60 yards and helped the Spartans whitewash the Wildcats.
Backup QB, Owen Sauder moved out of the pocket on a busted play to run 31 yards for a touchdown at the buzzer to make the final 48-0.
The Wildcat offense would battle but come up unable to score. QB Thomas Sprague went 6 for 17 for 39 yards. The Wildcat offense would be led by Rocco Serafini. He would carry the ball 21 times for 47 rushing yards and had one catch for an 8-yard gain. Connor Foltz had 3 catches for 6 yards. Wildcats Jake Weaver carried the ball 3 times for 3 yards. Longworth and Kissel would also have carries for the ‘Cats.
The Wildcat defense was led by Frank Mills with 4 tackles. Serafini, Foltz and Mack Saar each had 2 tackles.
Central Mountain, after a 2-1 start, is now saddled with a 2-6 record and looks to bounce back next Friday when Midd-West (0-8) comes to Malinak Stadium. The Mustangs lost to Lewisburg (3-5) on Friday by a score of 45-0. Midd-West came on the Wildcat schedule for this season after Clearfield had to drop off upon entering a new conference.
