November ribbon cutting set for new Lock Haven Skatepark at Hoberman Park
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Completion of the first development in the multiphase renovation project at Lock Haven’s Hoberman Park will be observed in November. City Planner Abbey Roberts has announced a re-opening event for the Lock Haven Skatepark at Hoberman Park for Nov. 9 at 3 p.m.
The city planner said the new park is a direct result of engagement surveys and feedback from the Lock Haven area community. Roberts said, “We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate its completion than inviting the community, representatives, and organizations to gather at the park for an afternoon of fun!”
She said speakers have been invited to share their comments as a large amount of Community Development Block Grant-CV funding and community support made this project possible. The Lock Haven Police Department will be conducting a free raffle for a bike, scooters, skateboards, and helmets to encourage everyone to enjoy the new skatepark safely. The ribbon cutting will officially re-open the skatepark and allow all attendees to test out the new facility.
The new park along E. Park Street saw work there begin two months ago, the lead contractor Skateboard Supercross, LLC. Initial work was done by Harger Utility Contractors Inc. to demolish and prepare the site. Cement work followed and the last piece of the puzzle, the asphalt pump track, was to be completed by a specialized subcontractor Velosolutions.
