Lock Haven Halloween Parade drawing near
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Lock Haven’s annual Halloween parade, sponsored by the City Fire Department, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to march in the parade and compete for prizes of cash, gift certificates, and merchandise donated by local businesses, organizations, and individuals who support the parade.
In addition to the top prize for the Best Overall Entry, other prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Best Float, Best Halloween Themed Group, Funniest, Best Halloween Themed Vehicle, Most Original, Best Duo, Cutest, Best Costumed Pet, Judges’ Award, Best Pop Culture, and Best Child in a Wagon, Stroller or Buggy.
And just for fun, the Best Crazy Mixed Up Costume category is meant to be a mixture of anything and everything – the stranger, the better. For example, a monster in high heels wearing a cowboy hat and carrying a purse.
Participants may join the parade line-up between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Those walking in the parade should line up on N. Henderson Street between E. Main and E. Water Streets. All vehicles and floats should line up on E. Water Street.
At 10 a.m. the parade will move up E. Main Street, ending at Triangle Park where everyone is invited to enjoy refreshments while the judges make their decisions. The prizes will then be awarded.
New this year will be activities for children at Triangle Park including Halloween Corn Hole, a Fishing Pond, Pumpkin Decorating, and more. These free activities will continue until 1 p.m.in conjunction with Downtown Lock Haven’s Fall Shop or Treat.
In case of rain, an indoor party will be held beginning at 10 a.m. at the Hope Hose Fire Company on E. Church Street.
As always, parade participants are asked to refrain from political advertising.
