Wildcats Fall 3-2 after Late Selinsgrove Rally

cm-soccerBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Everything was going the Wildcats’ way until Selinsgrove scored two goals in the last 11 minutes of the game to outlast the hosts 3-2.

Central Mountain held a 1-0 lead at the break on an unassisted goal by senior, Matt Storeman 16:53 into the game.

The 9:28 into the second period, another senior, Shea Cole found the back of the net to put the ‘Cats up 2-0.

Less than 7 minutes later, Selinsgrove responded to narrow the gap, trailing 2-1. Selinsgrove was not finished as they knotted the score with just over 10 minutes remaining elevating the pressure of a hard-fought contest.

With 3:43 remaining, the Seals scored their final goal that held up for the win.

Selinsgrove outpaced Central Mountain statistically also with an 15-8 advantage in shots on goal and 14-9 on corner kicks.

CM keeper, Nick Andrus had 5 saves on the night for the Wildcats.

The loss takes Central Mountain to 4-8-1 on the season.

The Wildcats will next see action at Jersey Shore on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017. The varsity game will start at 4 p.m. with the JV game to follow.
