Obituary – Robert Boyd “Bob” Getz
TUCSON AZ – Robert Boyd “Bob” Getz, 85, of Tucson passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023, at his residence after a lengthy Alzheimer’s battle.
Bob was born on May 19, 1938, in Renovo. He was a son of the late Charles Blair Getz and Ruth Evelyn (Saxton) Getz.
He was married on August 19, 1957 in Ebenezer, New York, to the former Joyce Marie (Cool) Getz. They celebrated almost 47 years of marriage together before her passing in 2004.
In 2003 he retired as a field customer service technician for KB Homes. Over the years he joked that he was the Bob of several trades. During his life he worked for Bethlehem Steel in Buffalo, DevCo Wayne and Capital Coach in South Renovo; Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven, Quehanna and South Renovo and Gates Learjet, Estes Homes and KB Homes in Tucson.
Bob was a 1956 graduate of Renovo High School. In his younger years he enjoyed spending time at his parents’ property “Red Top Lodge” along Boone Road, hunting, fishing, camping at Kettle Creek State Park (and meeting new friends) and later woodworking projects, genealogy research, family time and relaxing in front of his fireplace.
Bob enjoyed raising dogs and had several over the years including Lightning, who he rescued from a shelter in June.
Surviving are his son Robert Boyd “Cody” Getz II and daughter, Tina Marie Davis, both of Tucson. Granddaughter Cheyenne (Bobby) Hughes of Pevely, MO, great grandchildren Aylicya and Revan in Pevely, MO and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Ruth (George) Snyder and brother Charles (Pauline Long) Getz.
Interment will be private at Fairview Cemetery in Farwell, Pennsylvania at the convenience of the family.
