Obituary – George A. Myers

George A. Myers, 85, of 43 Shady Lane, Lamar, a lifelong resident of Clinton County, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at UPMC Williamsport, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Born on March 23, 1940 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Albert and Ruth Myers.

On September 13, 1958, at the East Main Street United Methodist Church in Lock Haven, he married the love of his life, Sylvia J. Getz, who preceded him in death. They shared a wonderful 63 years of marriage together before her passing on February 23, 2022.

At a young age, he began working as a “Popcorn Boy” at the Garden Theatre in Lock Haven. Once old enough, he then went to work building for Capital Homes in Avis. After the 1972 flood, he then began his self-employment career by owning and driving tri-axle coal and log trucks. Upon “retirement,” he spent the past two decades driving his many friends from the local Amish communities, right up until the time of his accident.

Most of all, he loved his family, along with his two dachshunds, Merlin and Toby. George enjoyed watching Penn State Football, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and loved watching classic car shows, especially Barrett Jackson and Mecum Auctions. He was an amazing father, husband, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and a great friend to all those he crossed paths with. He will be deeply missed by all.

Surviving are two children, Gary (Mary) Myers of McElhatten, Lisa Myers of Lamar; a foster daughter, Kathy (Tommy) Armstrong of Hayden, AL; five grandchildren: Matthew (Michelle) Myers of Shamokin Dam, Ashley (Nick) Gregg of Newville, Tyler Butler, at home in Lamar, Bradley (Sarah) Myers of Mill Hall, Rachel (John) Pepperman of Williamsport; five great-grandchildren: Alexa and Aiden Simcox of Newville, Morgan and Dylan Pepperman of Williamsport and Hadleigh Myers of Mill Hall; two siblings: Bessie Jean (Charles) Shreckengast of Mill Hall and Linda (Rob) Trask of Vero Beach, FL, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Sandra Myers, Greg Myers, William Myers and Shelia Eggler.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 12 P.M. at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High Street, Flemington, PA 17745 with Martha Sykes officiating. He’ll be laid to rest next to his wife, Sylvia, at Highland Cemetery, Lock Haven.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 6 until 8PM and again on Tuesday from 11AM until the time of the service. All those who knew George are asked and welcome to attend and share your memories with our family.
