Bulldog Nation supports families in need

JERSEY SHORE, PA – The Jersey Shore School District posted word Tuesday that spectators at Monday night’s Jersey Shore football game provided donations of more than $6,000 to assist two families in need.

The Tuesday posting followed word prior to Monday’s game that ticket takers and boosters would accept donations for the family of Max Engle who recently passed away after collapsing at a Sept. 9 football game, and the family of Caleb Latimer, a student battling leukemia.

The Facebook message from the Jersey Shore School District:

Bulldog Nation at its best! Thank you for your support for these families.

Last night our community pulled together to raise over $6,000 for our local families in need. There (are) a few sealed envelopes and some loose change that was not included in this number.

We are making arrangements to distribute these funds to the Engle and Latimer family today.
I do want you to be aware there are ongoing conversations with the Latimer family for future support opportunities. The family has graciously and selflessly asked that we hold off on all efforts out of respect to the Engles at this time.

What an amazing community to be part of.
