LH’s Collier named PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Lock Haven football running back Chris Collier has been named this week’s Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Offensive Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Collier powered the Bald Eagles to a thrilling victory Saturday at Clarion. The running back rushed for 169 yards on 20 carries and his 62-yard TD run in the fourth quarter helped spark The Haven’s comeback. The 169 rushing yards are the most this season in a single game by any PSAC player. The 62-yard run is the fifth longest this season in the PSAC.

With the win, the Bald Eagles improved to 2-1 on the season. It marks Lock Haven’s first 2-1 start since 2013 and just the second 2-1 start since 1992.

It’s Lock Haven’s first win over Clarion since 2007 and the victory snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Golden Eagles. The victory also marked the Bald Eagles first versus a PSAC West team since the 2019 season-finale and the first PSAC West win on the road since the final game of the 2018 season.

Lock Haven enters week 4 as the third ranked offense in the PSAC, scoring 36.0 points per game with the third most offensive touchdowns (15).

Collier is currently ranked third in the conference in rushing with an impressive 110.3 yards per game. He adds three rushing and two receiving touchdowns.

The Bald Eagles are set to host East Stroudsburg University at 1 p.m. this Saturday at Hubert Jack Stadium for its annual Hall of Fame Game as part of the 2023 Lock Haven Homecoming Celebration.
