Continued improvement for Wildcat cross country treams
WOODWARD TOWNSHIP, PA – The Central Mountain girls cross country team looked strong on Saturday at the 25th Annual Bear Mountain River Run hosted by LHU. The top five Wildcats to cross the finish line were all freshmen and sophomores. Freshman Gabriella Hosley led the way for the Wildcats finishing in 22:50 in her first high school race. Sophomores Grace Keohane and Calienna Cardinal finished just behind Hosley each earning PR’s for their performances. Four other Wildcat girls PR’d Saturday as well. Sophomore Aubrey Eiler dropped 1:30, Freshman Emma Wolfe dropped 2:30, Junior Adrian Samaniego 3:30, and sophomore Kennedy Metzger dropped 4:00 off their times from Tuesday’s race. The girls and the boys team will be back racing on Tuesday in a quad meet at Loyalsock starting at 4:15 p.m..
The Central Mountain boys toed the line for their second race in four days at the Bear Mountain event. The Wildcat boys put up six PR’s on the day. Junior Sam Wible again led the way for the Wildcats setting a PR in a time of 18:03.80. Cody Etters, Jaxon Hardy, Riley Gonzales, Shayden Hill, and Cory Matejovich also PR’d for the Wildcats.
Teamwise, the girls finished in seventh place, the boys in thirteenth. General McLane won the boys side, St. Marys first on the girls side.
