Season opener for CM cross country

LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Central Mountain boys cross country opened the season Tuesday evening in a quad meet on the LHU course against Montoursville, Shamokin, and South Williamsport.  The Wildcats defeated South Williamsport, but fell to Montoursville and Shamokin.

Sam Wible and Damien Winner picked up right where they left off at the end of last season  finishing 5th & 8th overall.  Newcomer, Riley Gonzales looked great in his racing debut for the Wildcats finishing in 22:10.80.  The Wildcats will participate in the Bear Mountain River Run Invitational on Saturday at LHU’s Stern Athletic Complex starting at 11 a.m.

The Central Mountain girls’ team ran in the same event. The Wildcat girls defeated Montoursville and South Williamsport, but fell to Shamokin.

Calieanna Cardinal was the first Wildcat to cross the finish line in 23:11.30 and a new PR.  Grace Keohane finished 6th in her first 5K in 23:39.20.  Sophia Croce, Aubrey Eiler, and Sofia Dressler rounded out the top 5 for Central Mountain.

The Wildcats will also participate in the Bear Mountain River Run Invitational on Saturday at LHU’s Stern Athletic Complex starting at 11 a.m.
