Clinton County SPCA to host one-day Thursday event: All Adoption Fees Waived for Dogs and Cats
By Emily Wright
DUNNSTOWN, PA – This Thursday, August 10, from 12 noon to 4:30 p.m., the Clinton County SPCA is hosting a one-day-only adoption event. The adoption fee for cats and dogs will be waived during this event only, to be held at the SPCA shelter at 33 Mill Hill Road in Dunnstown.
There are currently 18 dogs and 52 cats available for adoption. The SPCA told The Record that an overabundance of animals at the shelter prompted the waived adoption fee event. Their goal is to get the animals out of the shelter and into good homes.
To adopt a cat or dog, interested individuals must fill out a pre-adoption application which asks general questions about the environment that the animal will be living in and about any other animals that the applicant currently has in their home.
The SPCA emphasized that in order to adopt a pet, all applicants must be pre-approved. Applicants who have been pre-approved may adopt more than one animal if they so choose; however, SPCA staff will first determine whether the animals get along and are compatible with each other.
According to the staff at the SPCA, all of the dogs and cats have already been vaccinated, microchipped, and tested to ensure that they are ready to be re-homed.
For anyone who would like to support the cause but not necessarily adopt an animal, the SPCA states that donations are always greatly appreciated.
The SPCA states that appointments during this event are appreciated, but not required. For more information, the Clinton County SPCA can be reached at 570-748-4756.
