Keystone 10s continue title quest at state tourney
EAST STROUDSBURG, PA – It took a while to get the game played, but the Keystone 10 all-star team advanced to the final four at the Pennsylvania Little League championships. In what was to be a Thursday afternoon game, because of the weather it was late Thursday night until the Keystoners took the field, but they responded with an 8-0 win over Ingomar Little League.
The victory moved Keystone to the next elimination game, a Friday 7 p.m. contest against the winner of a game between Somerset and Pennridge. No matter what happens, Keystone will finish among the top four in the state and still has a shot at a state title.
The win over Ingomar was all about taking advantage of opportunities. Keystone was held to three singles (from Karter Markle, Dylan McDermott and Deagen Stover) but took advantage of 12 walks and two Ingomar errors and stole seven bases.
Meanwhile three Keystone pitchers combined on a one-hit gem. Carter Leone went 3.2 innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out six. Giovanni Cey followed with two scoreless innings and Jaxon Orndorf with a third of an inning. Combined the three hurlers struck out 10 and walked four.
McDermott had an RBI, Rylin Bathurst with an RBI sacrifice fly.
